Joan Of Rock
A Rock Musical Slightly Based On The Life Of Joan Of Arc In 1429, with France under the control of uptight English knights, manners and politeness are weapons of cruel oppression. It totally sucks for the French people. But when Joan of Arc plays her first power chord, everything starts to change. With the help of her angels, the rowdy peasant girl uses rock and roll music to fight The Man and free France.
Joan of Rock is a comedic musical about rebellion, oppression, doubt, class, art, pride, and history…sorta. It imagines Joan of Arc as the first inventor of rock music, which has a lethal effect on the English Knights she plays it at. And that part’s all very silly and fun. But underneath it all is Joan’s struggle to define who she is as a person after ricocheting between being told her whole life that she is nothing to being told she’s been chosen by god to save France.
